SOLUTION
In just 4 months, A4BEE delivered a functional prototype that met all technical requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance 2 hours working time on the battery: The device is equipped with batteries that allow it to continue the process for more than 2 hours with full power and all functionalities.
- Technology Optimization Separated wet and dry area: In the device wet and dry sections are separated. The electronics section is protected against moisture.
- Testing & Validation Automatic regulation: It features automatic regulation of the temperature of the perfusion fluid and the pressure and flow of gases
- Market Adoption Syringe pumps: It is possible to dose the medicines using 3 integrated syringe pumps. It is fully controlled from the main system and can work during the whole process.
- Collaboration User Interface: The system provides a custom made user interface for intuitive operating. The application allows to control every single subcomponent of the whole device, monitor the parameters of the organ and the device.

The NanoSanguis team contributed their expertise in perfusion and the optimal conditions required to sustain the viability of organs such as the kidneys, liver, and heart. Meanwhile, we at A4BEE brought in our specialized proficiency in cutting-edge technology. Leveraging our extensive experience from numerous projects across diverse industries—including Operational Technology, the Internet of Things, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology—we were well-equipped to execute a project of this complexity. This strong foundation enabled us to reevaluate key functionalities, optimize component selection, refine the device’s design, and introduce critical enhancements. We relied solely on the knowledge transferred from NanoSanguis' prototypes at the project's inception. We have successfully developed a fully operational body simulator that is poised for upcoming NanOX fluid experiments.

OUTCOME
Thanks to many projects for various clients we have high experience in Operational Technology, Internet of Things, pharma and biotech which are important for delivering projects like this one. Due to this background we were able to rethink crucial functionalities, used components and form of the device and come up with some improvements. One of the most helpful things were workshops with clinicians and perfusionists, people who will be the end users of the device, and gathering their perspective for a device like that one. The result from those meetings, many brainstorming sessions and hours during the development is Mobile Device able to automatic organ perfusion with separated areas and wireless connection. The created robust system and device allows for:
- Uninterrupted 12h perfusion process of the kidney
- Confirm the ability to manufacture such a completed device
- Gather most important facts and information during the process from clinicians - the final users
- Test cooling and heating system based on heat pump
