Strategic priorities
Cynosure Lutronic was formed by the January 2024 merger of Cynosure, then based in Westford, Massachusetts, and Lutronic, based in Goyang, South Korea, under the ownership of the Korean private equity firm Hahn & Company. The combined entity reports a presence in more than 130 countries and an installed base of more than 350,000 aesthetic devices, and is being managed against a 3 to 5 year horizon that ends in an IPO or a strategic sale.
The first operational task is reconciling two very different IT estates. US operations run on Oracle E-Business Suite and QAD MFG; Korean operations sit on Douzone or a separate SAP instance. Financial consolidation across the two currently runs through manual spreadsheets, and 'data unavailable' is the frequent answer when the CFO asks for global inventory levels in real time.
Manufacturing adds a third node. The Coyol Free Zone site in Alajuela, Costa Rica, operated by Sustain Medical LLC and Cynosure Costa Rica S.R.L., has been the subject of FDA inspection requests as recently as February 2025, and assembly steps there are still documented on paper. A product recall followed a manual assembly error in which a safety-critical component was installed in the wrong orientation in a laser system.
The commercial emphasis, in the leadership's own words, is on advanced manufacturing, AI and digitization as the way to make the merged company financially and operationally legible. The same capability set — line, lab and field-service data that can be read outside the equipment that produced it — sits behind the integration programme, the manufacturing improvement plan and the post-merger cybersecurity work.
