International manufacturing company with factories distributed among North America, Europe and Asia, wanted to validate the feasibility of the industrial product design, identify potential pitfalls and relevant modifications in the most-efficient fashion. Industrial projects used to take years to move from conception to market. In the fast-changing IoT world, rapid prototyping has progressively taken the stage. Company simply couldn’t afford such long cycles.
Approach for Rapid Prototyping
A4BEE team delivered innovative hardware prototypes based on modern sensors, Internet of Things and cloud technologies. Each hardware prototype was extended by digital services and tools, allowing a device for a connectivity. Rapid prototyping involves minimal development time and costs while providing great flexibility in integrating adjustments. Prototypes incorporated only the core functionality and were built with inexpensive components. Thanks to developed software, devices can communicate with automation systems, other smart sensors and exchange data or signals. For each of prototypes, our consulting team did a technology scouting and market analysis searching for off-the-shelf solutions capable to meet customer requirements. The following technology stack were used: Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Node RED, node.js, python, 3D printing, MQTT, AWS IoT services, Azure IoT services, Hyperledger Fabric, and IOTA
Project outcomes has helped to improved the time-to-market of delivering innovative prototypes. Based on the project outcomes the customer can quickly apply emerging technologies into the production line, and modernize it. Software (applications and services) helps with devices and machines connectivity and allows to gather more valuable data. Several technologies within the internet of things domain, including different types of smart sensors, has been successfully tested and evaluated, making them ready for fast implementation in production environment.
